The "Subject" line is blank. You sit for a while wondering what combination of words you should type that would perfectly characterize your email.
If you're like me, you end up with putting in "hi," "hey," or (for all my fellow Texans out there) "howdy."
Or, you avoid the exercise altogether and leave it blank!
I have news for you - your friend probably doesn't particularly care what you write. I know I don't.
So instead of going bland, why not add a little flava to your emails? Yahoo! has a really neat feature that fills in the subject line for you.
(No - it is not some sort of program that reads your email and finds the main subject.
Though, that would be cool... and kinda creepy.)
Instead they have pre-written subjects that you can select - they range from witty & clever to silly & incomprehensible.
You don't have to send your emails via Yahoo!, of course - but it's still worth getting a free account to click through and get an idea for a subject topic.
To see their suggestions, open Yahoo! Mail, compose a new email, then click on the "Subject" button to begin seeing suggestions. A new one with each click:
I just clicked through several times and got the following options:
Do watch dogs know they're working?
There's a great juggler on the radio tonight!
You can't teach an old dog to live in glass houses
Shake it, don't break it, took your mama 9 months to make it.
I hate eating breakfast on an empty stomach
Hazards of storing plutonium in Tupperware
I am not a chew toy
My train of thought has derailed
Zero tolerance for lactose intolerance
Return at once to the Mother Ship!
Hah! I like that last one. :)
Let's face it, these are WAY more interesting than "hey there" or "whatsup."
So check out Yahoo!'s Subject-O-Matic - and bring a smile or a chuckle to your friend's day.
