i heart our Earth

I, like many people I know, have gotten into this earth-hugging vibe lately. As such, some of my paintings play on the whole going green, hug a tree, no more bottled water, shower with a friend mentality...

I really like these sweet paintings... and will be offering prints of them as well as the originals when the shop opens in just a few short days.

Geometry was always my favorite...

... Well... it was my favorite out of all of my math classes anyway! Whenever I'm shopping for distinctive and interesting home "decor," I find myself attracted to those with simple geometric designs.

I find inspiration through the use of overlapping or stacked circles, squares or swirls. Here are a few pieces I have done for those of you who also find pleasure in clean, geometric designs!

This last one was fun to make - I layered beautiful dyed paper ribbon and it ended up looking really pretty. The picture honestly doesn't do it justice! :)

little lambs

I can't really say that I love working with one medium over another - honestly my favorite thing to do is to mix different mediums together - like fabric on stretched canvas or using carved wooden pieces to add dimension to a piece.

Doing artwork for newborns, babies, and young children totally lends itself to the use of different textures and colors. I know I definitely have vivid memories of the cute things that hung on my walls when I was growing up...

Here is a custom piece I did for my cousin's neutral nursery that mixed painted muslin on canvas:

The little.black.sheep.shop will feature little.lambs - pieces made especially for children and bebe's... I'm really excited to be introducing these pieces - they are some of the most fun to create!

I can't believe the upcoming sheep shop opening is just a few short weeks away!

I've been spending most of my spare time getting things organized (which has really been the perfect escape) ...

...and anxiously checking my mailbox for those last items I need before openin' up shop on etsy. So for those of you who have been waiting... it is coming soon! And good things come to those who wait... thank you, Heinz!
